Everything you love
This is quite reflective and somewhat morbid as I wrote it after a grisly motorbike accident.

Bottle of rain
On a typical day in my busy city I read a tiny story in a free paper 'Elephant killed by landmine'. It was about an incident in Burma, the deeply troubled nation ruled by a vicious military junta. The pathos and absurdity of this struck me, the innocent Elephant killed by one of mankind's most malicious inventions, trapped in a war it does not understand.
This song uses that as a symbol, to convey frustration and resignation at absurdity and being trapped within something one can't change, be it the world at large, a relationship or one's own self.
Rabbit, run
This is a guitar led song: Rabbit, run by Michael Fredman (new window) it started off as a composition on my phone one commute - you can hear the rough idea here, on soundcloud: Hopeful by fredmanatee
Blank
This is a rough version I recorded on my phone for my bandmate to work with:
Blank Guitar Vox Rough by fredmanatee
And this is a demo version I recorded:

This is a song I wrote recently.
Bird heart
This is a song I wrote late last year, it is just an experimental version and I have actually changed it a lot since - there is a different structure and verse melody.
I had fun playing with feedback loops, but it's not quite how I would want it to sound.

Somehow
I wrote this, sat outside on the roof, beneath an enormous full moon on a summer's night. The first recording I made of this was done using my MP3 player and you can hear the cars wooshing by far below, and then, at the solo, there is a police siren, which actually fits quite nicely. Hard to replicate, though.
you're going to have to make it through
Like a wounded fox
In a forest of hounds
Sorrow is tracking you down
Somehow, I know
I'll be with you
Wherever you go
Like the water
That melts from the snow
Feeds the flowers
In the valleys below
Somehow
Somehow,
You're going to have to make it right
Like the pale moon
In the November night
Sorrow is bleeding you white
Somehow, I know
I'll be with you
Wherever you go
Like the water
That melts from the snow
Feeds the flowers
In the valleys below
Somehow
